Brief Description:  Finished riveting the HS

Finished up riveting the HS rear spar to the skin. Drive the rivets where the ribs meet the rear spar. Put in the four blind rivets for the rear spar to center rib joint. ALL DONE with the HS! My first complete sub assembly!

The summary
-The ribs and spar parts are primed. The inside of the skins are not. After looking inside the wings of a 65 year old warbird and not finding any corrosion, I decided Alclad does a pretty good job in its own. So as I assembled the HS I sprayed the inside of the skins with Boeshield T-9 which is an aircraft corrosion inhibitor/penetrant developed by Boeing and it leaves a dry wax film behind. That should protect the Alclad from any corrosion issues while the parts are in storage and in the future. Going to use this process going forward.

-Drilled out a few rivets here and there. Flush riveting is OK but I do not like the tools with the rubber guards on them. Too much dancing around on the thin skins and the rivet head ends up a little 'proud' of the surface. A 1/2" diameter mushroom tool with no frills worked best-just get it on the rivet straight on.

-The ATS rivet gun (3X) works great and I can creep up on the force with the trigger. Gun works good at 65 psi with the so called inline gun regulator wide open. I think it is just a flow control-not a regulator. Like ATS tools-they deliver to me the next day at good prices and they are right here n Michigan. Got to help the local guys-the economy here is in the tank right now.

-Love the Tungsten bucking bar. I can get that thing in darn near anywhere! Wrap some masking tape around the sides to prevent scratches and away we go. Good mass in the bar and the beveled end is handy both for riveting and clearing nearby structure parts. All sides are finish ground and usable whick is really handy. Got the bar from here- http://www.buckingbar.net/ I know it is pricey, but it replaces so many of the cheap steel ones it may actually be a better deal.
