Brief Description:  Strake leading edge form

Have been plotting for a while now to deviate from the plans and do a version of the Featherlite pre-formed leading edge. This is what is actually depicted in the photos at the end of CH21 in the plans apparently. I have seen the Featherlite product on a couple of websites, and it is an inner skin with 3/8" foam attached, formed into the shape of the leading edge. Apparently no longer available. It looks inconveniently long, (fore and aft), and is supposed to be a bear to tape to the ribs.

To start I make a pair of cutting templates with talking numbers on them out of 3mm ply, extending aft of the 3/5.5" part intended. This is from a bit of plastic stuck onto a block of wood, which I marked with a sharpie from my laser dot projected across the ribs.

I roused out all my remaining half-way useful blocks of wing foam, mark each with the cutting template, and glue them all together with Urethane bond.

I dug out my hot wire saw, put the canard core extension back on it and restrung the wire. The leading edge is about 59" long.
