Brief Description: Canopy internal shaping and hinge hard point layup
|
|
Finished profiling, but the starboard side looks a bit rough. Patched with slivers of foam, fixed with urethane bond.
Excavated hinge hard points, with 2mm index holes at corners, so I can find them from the outside. [Timewarp: Find later I had shortchanged one hole, it was 1/2" too short at the forward end. Sheeet].
Made a level board to fit over both hardpoints and box taped it.
Layed up the port hinge pad using alternating layers of wet flox and BID. I started with little triangles to level up the hole, then switched to rectangles. I must have been stingy with the flox, because I used 25 plies, and the plans say use at least 15. Hmmmm. Whacked on the level board and weighted for cure.
259g resin used, fast hardener.
That was fun! [Timewarp tomorrow: He, he he. Just you wait]
