Brief Description:  Upper Winglet installation prep

[Timewarp tomorrow: Should have made "Block A" now, before attaching Winglet]

Finished left Wing tip and attempted to place the Winglet, as shown in the plans. Align measurement A, hold it and align B. Check A, it has moved. Fix A, B has moved. Once get A & B sorted and try for C. Tape measure falls off nail. By the time I am reset A, B & C have moved. F*&K! Farted around like this for a fair old while and achieved nothing at all. Plans stick glued to box is just pathetic. Ponder sullenly for a while. To be fair the plans say you need a helper for this bit, but I'm a shift worker, and there is nobody around. I don't see why I can't do this myself.

Decide on a more direct approach and decide I need a prop in the vicinity of the spar cap. I grab some scrap aluminium sheet, 1.5mm thick and already bent in a rough 90 degrees, and cut out 2 x 2" square bits. I cut slots in the foam, where it will be relieved for the internal skin layup and slide it into the wing, then slide the winglet onto the sticky-uppy bit. Much better control. I drill a hole in the end of a block of wood and place within one of the 10mm bolts I used to level my benches with in the old shed and its wobbly floor. I nail this to a stout piece of pallet timber and hot glue it to the winglet trailing edge. I will have to cut out the Aluminium later, but don't see that as a problem.

Measured A accurately and roughly set B, then checked A and hot glued a block near the leading edge. Set B accurately and check A, all OK, so set B with another glue block. Check C, adjust, check them all again and put in the 45 degree strut with hot glue blocks. Recheck all and achieve a dead accurate A & B, and C within 0.1", (plans are happy with +/- 1.0")! Add lots more glue blocks and pulled off the trailing edge prop for the next wing.

Ran a wire through the conduit, and pulled through the coax.
