Brief Description:  Right Aileron hardware

Cut out remaining A3/A4 hinges, exhewing the utilitarian, (ie. not wasteful) arrangement in the plans and made each end symetrical, remembering to reverse the hinge halves first. It only cost me an inch or so of material.

Cut one leg of the A4's to 0.85" as described in the plans, then puzzled mightily where it went. It makes sense that the narrower face goes on the leading edge of the Aileron, as it has tapered quite a bit toward the tip, but the drilling pattern at page 19-17 shows a full width hinge. Section H-H on page 19-14 clearly shows the 0.85" face mounted on the Aileron, and shows the lines of rivets 0.4" apart rather than 0.45" in page 19-17. Hmmm.

Aligned hinges with a straight edge, drilled and cleco'd to wing, 6 x 3/32" and 1 x 1/8" (oops). Top of hinge is supposed to be flush with skin, but it protrudes quite a way, despite being packed out to predict the effect of 4 x BID at the hinge points, Make very precise deliberations on how many extra UND/BID required at each hinge location... [Timewarp: ...which I won't bother to mention here because I had to put an extra pad on the inner and outer anyhow.]
