Right Wing lower Spar Cap applied with plans schedule 9 plies of spar tape, leaving most plies a little long to fill the trough. 700g of resin used.
Two significant things happened, there was a splice in one of the threads! a 5mm overlap and both strands wrapped in clear plastic tape. Thankfully it was right at the end, so I left that strand short.
Was writing the number of plies on the tape, as I have done before, but most of the marks disappeared when the resin hit them. Then had a brain wave, and dropped each bundle of removed cross threads in a distinct pile, so I could just count the piles to check the number of plies! Simples!
Discovered also that a 6" length of 1.5mm melamine trimmed off a drawer insert makes a magnificent squeegee for profiling the top of the spar cap, and removing excess resin when done.
