Brief Description: Why I haven't updated for ages
|
|
Was conversing with somebody last week that expressed some regret that I hadn't updated my log since April. I was in paroxysms of indecision at the time whether to follow the plans and start CH14 - The Center Sections Spar, or press ahead to CH16 and rig all the controls. In the mean time I lost a lot of time on the build as my Mother was very unwell, and then she died.
By the time life was organised again and I wandered into my squalid little one-car garage that has supported the project so far I took a long look at the project and how it was progressing, and decided I was still keen, but the shed was holding me back. The shed has served me well, but cutting a hole in the wall to rig the canard should have been the signal to STOP! Anybody else out there wondering about shed space I would recommend a shed bigger than a one-car garage is required to progress past CH11.
So followed a long process of deciding on what I needed out of a new shed, both during and after the Cozy, and what would fit on my restricted block, and what I could afford. Best deal was with Best Sheds, and the kit for my 10 x 9.5m steel shed arrived Monday! This will let me build bits and use half of it for a garage, booting the cars out when I want to assemble the aeroplane.
The old sheds are bowled over, concrete jack-hammered, and I'm waiting for the concreter for some new stuff. I harvested enough hardwood from the frame for a thousand pizzas!
Hope to return to the build this year, The SpodPlane is tucked up in Connie the Container for the moment...
