Brief Description:  MLG Axle prep

Veeeerrrrrrryyyyy interesting. Spent a slightly baffling couple of hours yesterday on the internet looking at other people's projects and note an astounding variation on how to do things. Most people are using the Matco brakes, and not encountering my problems, but so not much help for me. On the other hand found one guy whose tabs were longer than the 'before' pictures in Marc Zeitlen's 'Oaf Story' but is still happily building away. On the other hand, his orientation of the UNI Strut wrap is 30 degrees different to mine, and it took a lot to believe I have got it right...

ANYWAY CN36 from 1996 says, "Many builders, and in fact we, are nervous about cutting into the gear leg far enough to meet the requirement. It is our opinion, and that of others as well, that the calipers are over-designed and have more metal around the pins than is necessary for installation on a Cozy. We have therefore trimmed some metal away from the lobes on the calipers so we wouldn't have to cut as deeply into the gear leg to achieve the 0.1" clearance."

Also decided the lobes on my brakes are not terribly aethetically pleasing, and have rounded them off, and achieved the clearance I need. (Timewarp 18FEB15: Result was tapered, and didn't fit well around the strut, so had to grind off some more)

This meant my ply template was no longer accurate, and it was too thick for accurate trial fitting. Made 2 new templates out of aluminium flashing.

Prepared Axles and Backing Plates, and primed non-bonding side of Plates.
