Brief Description:  Engine mount installation

Levelled the fuselage across the upper longerons, and drilled out firewall hardpoints to match engine mount, ending one size under 3/8".

Trial bolted engine mount to firewall, and removed. The plans call out AN970-6 washers on the forward side of the firewall. This worked fine at the top, but the bottom points are too close to the fuselage bottom. Drilled out some AN970-5 to 3/8" and trim a bit off the bottom to make them fit.

Bolted engine mount to engine with flight hardware, and then spent frikken ages trying to bolt the mount back onto the firewall. With the crappy table on wheels it is impossible to get the angles right for the bolts, and almost impossible to unload the mount. With flight hardware this will REQUIRE an engine hoist, or a bunch of muscly helpers.

Plane sits nicely with the ballast in, and a couple of sandbags in the nose, and the nose gear down about 1/4.

Trial fitted top cowl and a bit bewildered by the result. Research time! Checking clearance and centering with the prop with a plastic disc the same diameter as the cutout.
