Brief Description:  Canopy frame outer frame skin prep

Removed packing pieces from the main canopy frame flange. Re-marked centerline & expected glass overlaps. Hot glued a strip of peel ply to the flange.

Pull out my supply of carbon fibre BID and start to cut using a complicated peel ply pattern, allowing for an overlap staggered near the centerline. I am quite jubilant that there seems to heaps to spare, then a horrible realisation strikes me that I have made TWO startling blunders...

#1 - I have been cutting for the outside plies, and I will need a complete set of duplicates for the inside. I'm not sure there is enough.

#2 - It is not specifically called out in the plans, but I have cut out two pieces with the fibres running fore and aft and laterally, yet the RAF BID is marked as 45 degrees, and anybody but an idiot, (me), would notice the CF BID needs to be the same.

Quite staggered that I have managed to bugger up the CF BID I have had in my glass box for a year, I give up and go and crack a bottle of red. What an ass-hat.
