Brief Description:  Nose gear windows

Had figgered out a while ago that the window frames I had prepared in the nose gear inside cover were useless, as the gear was not visible through them! The angle is wrong and my leg would be in the way. Had also read some recent emails that indicate the single layer of BID lets a lot of cold into the leg area, with some insulation recommended by canard mage Nick Ugolini. I decided to put a thin layer of foam over the sides, around the brake lines, and use this to create a new window frame, in a position that can be seen from my seat.

I covered the existing window with some scrap cured 2 x BID from some other misadventure of the past, fixed with urethane bond.

I marked the route of the brake line, and removed the bowtie clips, (another Nick Ugolini suggestion) and moved the brake line out of the way.

I fitted the first bit of 1/4" blue wing foam with urethane bond, secured with my new wingnut cleco, (of which I have 5 courtesy of an obliging fellow on ebay aerospace). I used one normal cleco and it crushed the foam horribly. Maybe I can use my wing-ding cleco. Hmmmmm. Next bit.

Cut some new windows from canopy off-cuts.
