Brief Description:  Wing Ding Cleco

Have viewed and fallen in love with this installation video for installing the windows in a Glassair Sportsman using urethane sealant used in modern road vehicles and boats. The Glassair plans indicate a flox installation, but people have been using urethane for years, and report it is easier, cleaner, and less likely to crack. It also means the windows go in AFTER paint, I closely looked at a fairly rough Sportsman installation 12 years ago at Bacchus Marsh and the owner told me what he would have done differently next time, and it is exactly as portrayed in these videos.

In it the expert says you need 17 modified wing nut cleco to install a Sportsman windscreen, and a Cozy would need more. I bought some tile level clamps, and reckon they will do the same job. Today I experimented with the concept. They come with a T on the end, I cut off one arm of the T and rounded the edge. It will go through a 3/32" home and can be finely adjusted for tension, or over tensioned until damage occurs to the fibreglass, and the end pings off the L, (was T). Rather than Wing Nut Cleco, I call them Wing Ding Cleco. They cost the same as 3 Wing Nut Cleco for 50.
