Brief Description:  Rear seats

Drilled out and popped off offending hinges. Cut new -4 hinge halves for the thigh support and match drilled to existing holes in thigh support and re-rivetted. Fits!

Removed 1/4" of flange from the seatback hinges and redrilled seatback to match. Will need patching later. Adjusted the seatback bottom edge a bit, and reinstalled the hinge halves. Fits!

Spent some time last night, (in bed, really should have been sleeping), pondering the spar hole covers and how to secure them. I really want ready access through the spar holes. I understand they are brilliant for storage of stuff in the spar, so I'd like them no more difficult to get into then a glove box in a car. I decided to attach them to the seatbacks, so gravity will hold them in place!

As this means they will have to be guarantee fit I decide to bevel the rear surface now, prior to attaching them. Not being in the best of moods I can't be bothered with the tedious methods I have used in the past, so spend some happy time making a bevelling jig for my table saw. Two bits of MDF, the guide piece with a tiny flange to support the work, joined by hinges, with the angle measured and locked in by a digital protractor. After some experimentation and test pieces, cut a 75 degree bevel on the foam, and they all come out lovely.

Go back into a low mood when I remember that I haven't reinforced the aeroplane floor to accept the other hinge halves... Mark up where the floor hinge halves will go and contemplate. Some of them look pretty well reinforced already, and I note in the plans that 4 x BID pads are required for "those areas which are not already reinforced".

CH09 Step 01 tells me the outboard points have a 3 x BID reinforcement, so they will need 1 x BID additional.

CH08 Step 07 indicates the inboard thigh support hinge is over 7 x BID, so that will do.

There is only the merest edge of heat duct tape for the inboard seatback hinges, so they will need 4 x BID.

I apply suitable shims and check installation, doesn't seem to change anythi
