Brief Description:  Engine and engine mount figgerings

Got a care parcel from Aircraft spruce, one that went missing for a month due Covid-19... Over the last few days put away all the nuts and bolts and things, reorganising my storage system in the meantime.

Fitted one of my dynafocal mounts to the engine with the newly-arrived Lord mounts and the right bolts. Set the mount jig with the other one fitted next to it and considered the planned extra top tube. I don't see any problems with clearance, so it is time to visit the welder! I don't suppose many other builders have two dynafocals to play with at this point, but it has been useful!

Made a new cover for the engine from jumbo plastic gardern waste bags taped together, with bits of steel strapping securing it at the bottom with magnets hot glued to the stand frame. Note the dehydrator plugs have gone pink again, and finally realise it is because the rubber seal at the bottom is not compressed to make them airtight. Modify a spanner to put them on tightly after re-drying them, but discover it will not loosen them. I need a proper plug spanner.

Pull off the cover plate for the fuel pump and discover there is no drive plunger. I don't know if the other hardware is there either, This is a shock, the accessories cover is going to have to come off! There is at least a guide for the plunger there, and perusal of the parts manual seems to indicate the idler drive gears should be there. I have a bit of a look with a borescope, but can't make it out. Hmmm. The parts catalogue seems to indicate the pump needs to be secured with genuine socket bolts, am considering AN6-10 bolts with a drilled head, but it may not be possible to torque them correctly.
