Brief Description:  Adjusting Canard fit

Drooping like a tired dog, 42C in the shed...

Last time I removed the canard I popped out the starboard CN-2 bushing from the rear tab. It had always been difficult to fit and remove the canard, so I spent some time investigating why. With lights and mirrors and bits of paper I discover the outboard edges of the forward tabs are contacting the inside of the fuselage tabs when I slide the canard forward. I gritted my teeth and ground into the structure on the sides, leaving a generous clearance, and scarfing the glass around it.

Whilst checking clearance with the new fairings discover the elevator travel is not what it should be. Detecting interference points by sliding bits of paper between the cove and the elevator leading edge, I sanded the cove along the wobbly bits of the trailing edge with 80g glued to slivers of thin carbon fibre until travel is correct. Mostly on the port side outboard and over both counterweight tapes. Regretting my earlier mistake with the location of the tape joggle.
