Brief Description:  Main Spar installation prep

Conclusions of yesterday. The lower Firewall is not perfectly vertical or square to the longerons. The aft face of the spar is not perfectly vertical either, and in the opposite direction to the lower Firewall... Deviation is less than 3mm in any direction, but...

Fiddles with wedges and props and continuing yesterday's process until quite befuddled. decide to fit the Canard to visually check the level and have trouble getting it on. Begin to doubt the wisdom of building an airplane and go and sulk in the house and do some overdue other jobs.

Am really not confident enough that I understand the process of installation and its consequences yet to commit to permanently installing the spar. Go and read Marc Zeitlen's Spar installation 'Oaf story' again for inspiration.

On the positive side, the rig I have confirms the canard is level with the longerons, and trimming the Firewall side pieces shows that they do not look comical when placed, so bum squareness is not really a problem.

Occurred to me that I regretted the lost opportunity in the past to weigh the fuselage sides before assembly of the fuselage, so this is my last opportunity to weigh the Spar before I whack it in, on bathroom scales it is 22.5kg, I have only two others to compare that to, one was lighter, before the installation of the bushes, the other was slightly heavier with bushes. Happy.

Hmmmmm, Canard is level, and within 15mm of the Spar without fiddling.
