Can't find any actual reason not to, so use a 1/2" router bit to make a shallow trench to put the antenna in, and a 1/4" bit in the dremel router to make the coax channel, using a bit of wood to guide the tool. When I look at the result I realise I am an idiot, (yet again), and note that fig.1 shows the antenna continuing onto the 1" tip, and I haven't done this. I also haven't checked if the instructions for this bit are better indicated elsewhere, mine date from a 1981 Sport Aviation article! Stop work and go and play with slot cars...

After reading some more realise I had left too big a gap between the dipoles, Jim Weir's instructions say the gap should be less than 10mm! Remark everything, cut a new coax channel, and hollow for the torroids, (from Jaycar aerospace).

Stripped the end of the RG58/AU coax, (I know it is fashionable to use RG400, but NO!), and glued on the torroids to make it easier to heatshrink them in place.

Carefully cut 2 x 20.3" strips of 3/8" copper tape and stuck them on the foam.
