Brief Description:  Canard mounts and rudder pedals

Trial fitted the rudder pedals on the fixed hard points, and am not pleased with my work. I had just used the match-drilled holes in NG-30 for the alignment, and hadn't noticed the results were not level. From above it looks OK, but sighting throught the leg holes of the instrument panel it looks like crap. Applied a bit of heat and popped off the hardpoints, cleaned up the result, then re-trial assembled all. With a bit of adjustment to the holes through NG-30 the tubes sit level, and now look loverly through the leg holes.

Despite finding nothing in the FAQ or the forum archive on the subject, I have learnt the gap I have been agonising about with the Canard is the usual thing, and expected by everybody except me as fine and normal! The front pads are laid up so everything is aligned. You put 3 x BID on the front pads, and the whole assembly moves forward the width of 3 x BID, and the resulting gap is no cause for alarm. Still being a bit suspicious, gave the pads a bit of a vigorous sanding anyhow, replaced the canard, clamped the upper firewall in position again, cut another hole in the side of the shed and check the alignment and incidence. All good! Move on.

Floxed the CNL bushings into F-22, laid polythene film over all, bolted on the canard with well-greased 1/4" hardware store bolts and wide area washers, then clamped the tabs hard against F-22.

Re-floxed the outer Rudder Pedal mounts, getting the alignment right this time by bolting them to the pedals, and trial assembling everything first. This worked LOTS better and am pleased with the result.
