Done some research and testing and think I am organised. All sums in reference to the lowest of the master cylinder mounting points available on the pedals. This lowest will give a mechanical advantage of 2.28:1, which is less than the optimum 2.5:1. The mounts are a lot lower on this generation of pedal than others I have seen, so I will go with them. If it was way off I would re-make them.

Regardless of anything else, the 1" of upper master cylinder mount movement permitted by the Oelmann pedals before master cylinder engagement needs to fully engage the rudder 5.25" out at the trailing edge.

5.25" on a radius of 10.5" (rudder projecting aft of the pivot) = 1.28" at a radius of 3" (hidden bellhorn projecting forward of the pivot)

1" of cable movement on a radius of 5.75" (distance from the pedal pivot to the rudder cable point) = 0.52" at a radius of 3" (distance from the pedal pivot to the lower master cylinder mount). This means I have 1.9" of movement until the master cylinder engages, I only need 1.28". This can work.

The answers for the other mc holes were 1.5" and 1.4", so either of them would work as far as the rudder is concerned, but the mechanical advantage is only 1.8:1 and 1.6:1, which I don't like the look of. I cross checked all the numbers with simple ratios, and got much the same results.

Other reading indicates that there may be times the brakes are spongy, and it would be an advantage to be able to pump them. I investigate, and discover the range of movement from rudder at zero degrees, through master cylinder engagement to bottoming out of the dry master cylinder is 4".

I poke a nail through the side foam at this point for the PORT outer pedal, and discover I still have 1.2" of foam! Plans are not clear on this at all, but decide I want 1/2" of foam here. I cut the nail down to 1/2" inch and insert if from the outside, then hog the foam out until I find it. I cut a rough trench and believe I can acheive 5" of pedal travel. Sanded the rest to a pleasing profile, prepped th
