Brief Description: Fitting NG-30 assembly to nose
|
|
Trimmed layups and excess flox.
Cut and ground NG-3 outer to match the inner, and drilled/reamed the actuator attach point.
Clamped a bit of ply under FWD fuselage and rested NG-30 box on it, with top supported by rubber bands around F-22 from steel rod through NG-51 plates. Fell off. Tried again, braced with a bit of timber clamped to the inside of F-0.
Levelled fuselage across upper longerons and set F-22 vertical.
Checked NG-30 assembly for square and vertical. Looks OK, but tapered in a bit toward the top, so braced it square with a 2.5" Al tube between the NG-51.
Drilled holes through back of F-22 for aligning screws.
Prepared and rounded AFT face of F-5, 2 x BID overlapping 1" onto NG-30 and peel plied.
Floxed up AFT of NG-30, placed on F-22, shimmed square and vertical with wedges and plasterboard screws.
2 x BID tapes 1" overlap inside of F-22 to NG-30.
A bit of resin left over, so filled some voids in fuselage joins with syringe, made flox corners in edges of CS-10 spacers and 1 x BID over CS-10 overlapping onto the Elevators.
