Brief Description:  Resolving Canard level issue

Found nothing in the FAQ or the email list archives. Finally figure it out myself, and this is what I reported to the group. Guess this has not affected most builders, as most will have had to CHANGE the incidence of their canard, rather than try to build with the modified template:

When I set my canard the right way up in Chapter 10, Step 6, and placed the F template on top and checked the level, they were all out; about 0.25" nose down. I was somewhat hurt and bewildered by this, (in an already bewildering week, just failed my first rating check in 32 years of Air Traffic Control, sigh), but recognised this must be a systemic thing, and investigated why rather than backing up a step or just correcting the level. Compounding this, I had made all the Canard templates last year, (in a funding pause while I resolved medical issues), so had forgotten some of the decisions made in their production.

I couldn't find anything in the archive, but somebody must have encountered this before, because I figured out it is because of the change in the F template mandated by CN#80. This reference tell you to change the F template so you can increase the incidence of the canard in Chapter 12 Step 2, when you are mounting it on the airplane. If you use the same template for levelling the canard on your workbench in Chapter 10 Step 6 YOU NEED THE ORIGINAL TEMPLATE!

Please see pictures: level1.jpg shows the nose down level with the CN#80 template, originalF.jpg shows me converting my F template to the original plans, level2.jpg shows the bubble nicely in the middle with the original template. In all but one place on my canard, which I'm now working on...

My recommendation for new builders: Make an F(10) template as per the plans for Chapter 10, then make an F(12) template as per CN#80 for Chapter 12, probably by cutting down the F(10).

Investigating this situation also reminded me I had noted the discussion in the archives about the template in CN#80 being too long, presumably a printing error. I actually drew the ne
