Brief Description:  Preparing for Canard lower skin layup

Finished sanding lower Spar Cap.

Noted I had omitted to adjust K template for the extra 1/16" suggested by CN60. Removed tape on K template on forward parts, and sanded the Canard 'cove' to suit, checking straightness with the tubing for the next step. All looks good.

Sanded Tip Attach joggles, taping an inch inboard and using a sanding block, (actually some 3/4" tubular conduit).

Taped LE. Stupid plan. Tape snagged glass draped over part for cutting multiple times, then fell off.

Cut 1" peel ply tape for TE. Threw away the first attempt, screw an extension to the table to make these cuts easier. Note that 1" from TE will go well past the point that the TE skins will overlap unless something devious is attempted, like the joggle for the TE of the elevators. Nothing about this in the plans, will require some thought. Fix peel ply tape to TE using 1mm bullet head brads. This worked suspiciously well. Almost TOO well. Prompts a thought that this may be important, but the thought doesn't crystalise into anything useful.

Cut glass for lower skin layups. Rather than using the protractor and straight edge method tried to just cut along the visible thread path, and it worked really well, much more confident that the bits are linear. Cut along a particular thick thread for the UNI, and along the 45 degree pattern so evident with the BID. Used the 0.25" quilter's tape for the first time, and found it far superior for keeping track of the 'guide' UNI thread, and really minimises wastage.

Retaped LE with electrical tape. Fell off. Got angry and gesticulated a bit. Then my earlier thought re-crystalised, could I use nails to hold the tape on? Tacking the tape on with 1.6mm flat head nails just works brilliantly and brings a rosy glow to the building day. 1mm flat heads would have been fine, but I had the others to hand. Realise this would have worked brilliantly for fixing the tape to the TE of the Spar trough in the Shear Web layups as well. Woo-hoo! Note: remember this for the wings!
