Brief Description:  Preparing to fit LE Canard cores

Removed Canard from jig, broke up jig and cleaned up the table.

All the dowell holes had disappeared under the peel ply, particularly the ones I knew had gone under the Attach Tab BID pads. Strong light shone from behind didn't really reveal anything conclusive. Drilled them out from the rear with 1/4" diameter 12" drill bit.

Marked up table for K jig locations and placed them. With the canard placed loosely on them inserted the dowells and was stunned to find they didn't line up with any sensible arrangement of the LE cores. Took quite some time to figger out I was trying to fit them all upside down, then understanding broke. Drilling from behind was a stupid mistake. The drill bit had wandered in the foam and didn't drill through in the right places, alignment lost. What should I have done? Small test holes from the LE in the marked places should have revealed the right locations, followed by enlarging the holes with a Dremel grinding bit to match the holes in the foam may have served better. Re-reading the plans indicates this is what is hinted at.

Spend some time pondering how to move forward from this. Not a particularly good day.

Decide to do something positive, and clean up the TE of the Shear Web that the tape failed to protect, and tapered a few lumps.

In a personal aside, am training on a new ATC sector and struggling somwhat, relieved by incredibly patient and understand trainer. If I get through this endorsement I remember pondering that I would consider him a friend for life.
