Brief Description:  Transported engine to hanger and HUNG IT

I've heard from many that hanging the engine is a monumental task requiring many people and voodoo magic. There are a few who say it's a piece of cake, but they are shouted down quickly.

Well, I'm one of the few I guess. When I arrived at the hanger with my engine in the back of the truck, Ron was there and helped me stare at it hanging from the engine hoist. He left at 6pm just as I was wheeling the hoist over to the fuselage, with no intent of hanging it. As I sat there by myself staring at it, I just couldn't talk myself into believing this was something I couldn't accomplish. It's only 4 bolts.

So, I hoisted the engine up and put in the first bolt. From there it gets a bit tougher as Vans welders leave much to be desired. With that said, the second top bolt went in with very little pressure from the ratchet straps I used to pull the engine mount whichever direction I required it to move. Bolt three went much the same, though it took two ratchet straps pulling in different directions. The fourth bolt is supposed to be the bugger though...and it likely is....if you try to brute force it or muscle the engine mount into position. I, as you've read, prefer ratchet straps pulling a little at a time until the mount is where I want it...then the bolt just slides in.

At 6:45pm I sent a text with the second photo. 45 minutes, start to finish, hung and torqued....solo. This is one of those things....don't let it scare you. It's only 4 bolts. Use your brain, not 6 men's brawn and it goes right in.
