Brief Description:  Canopy Skirt days 5&6

There isn't any need to put up multiple posts considering I've been doing the same thing for two evenings. One of the frustrating things about fiberglass is you lay it up...and then can't touch it for hours and hours on end. I'm using West System epoxy with the fast hardener but it still takes quite a while to set up in my Denver April Basement.

As you've already seen, the fit of Vans skirts around the back of my Todd's Canopy was quite poor, so I cut the lip off the top and put 5 layers of cloth from the skirt to the canopy (taped and mould release on canopy). That worked so well that when I couldn't get happy with the way the sides fit the canopy....I just cut them off and have put layups over it. The first day I put three on, and today I put a bit of flox where the cloth had sunk a littl into the gap between the canopy and skirt...then two more layers of cloth. Each layup I top with a layer of peel ply (two if it's pretty wet).

I'll let this cure then see where I stand by cutting the top edge near where I want it to end up and seeing if the edge thickness is what I want it to be. If no more layers are needed and I'm happy wth the fit, I'll perform Dan Hortons cake frosting of epoxy and micro trick...and voila. Pictures are after 5 layers of cloth, with peel ply overlaid.
