Brief Description: I bought an engine
I bought a Lycoming IO-360-A1A! It was dissassembled and all parts sent out for overhaul by the guy I bought it from. While the parts were being worked over, he decided to go with a parallel valve. Thinking he would use the angle valve in a different plane, when his crank failed inspection he bought a new solid flange crank. Then he changed his mind on the other plane. So, I got a smoking good deal on an angle valve, fully overhauled engine with new crank. I'm going to ditch the new pistons for Lycon 10:1, the sump which is thankfully missing will become a Superior cold air induction. The mags, which were also not included were always intended to be dual P-mags anyway....so this fit me perfectly.
I unboxed everything to get an inventory and see what parts still need some attention. The servo wasn't overhauled, so I'll send it to AFP for a look over. The case, oddly, wasn't painted or even alodined when he had it overhauled so I'll have to do something about that. I think I'll have the crank and rods dynamically balanced while they are out. Anyway, it's nice to have the engine decision behind me.
It came with a few red tag parts (one gear, lifters, one piston pin) but replacements for them were included in the box.
