Brief Description: Trimming horizontal stab spar to clear elevator ho
When I tested the elevator's swing, the elevator horns smacked into the horizontal stab's rear spar lower flanges. Van's points out that we may need to trim into the lower flange to allow full elevator travel.
We marked the trim points, and I made the cuts with the Dremel. We were VERY CAREFUL not to cut into the bearing bracket or ESPECIALLY the spar stiffener (structurally vital). We edge-treated the metal cuts with a very fine metal file and hand-rubbed with Scotchbrite. After the fit-test, I primed the area.
