Brief Description:  Left Elevator: Skin fold for trim tab...FAIL

***PROBLEM***

I ran into trouble trying to fold the two main skin halves at the trim tab slot. The idea is to construct a wedge internal backing (the wood wedge), insert it into the skin to provide working structure, then fold the bottom then top skin folds. The overlapping folds close off the space while still providing water drainage. You start the fold by tapping the skins over with another wood block struck by a mallet up and down the fold. Final "coaxing" is done with a mushroom head rivet gun at low pressure.

FAIL.

I didn't have the heart to take pictures of my botchery, but suffice it to say I overfolded the skins and cracked them. You'll see some of my efforts to save the skin in the next block. I'll tell you now that I did not proceed with this skin: I went ahead and ordered a new skin and stiffeners, and will take an alternate/much better approach via home-fabricated ribs.
