Brief Description:  Stock Steel Pushrod Tube Painting

In the first picture you can see another set of pushrod tubes all painted and ready for the oven cure cycle. These are the original steel pushrods and they do have a few dents and dings in them. There is some controversy as to whether the aluminum versions (new build) are really better then reusing these old parts so I will take everything with me to CC #27 and sort it out there.

Well I put the pushrod tubes through the usual cure cycle in the toaster oven with heating and cooling cycles per maunfactures instructions and these did not turn out well. In picture #2 you can see that the first batch of six tubes had some serious issues with the paint peeling off the base metal during cure. It looks like these tubes are not going to be of any use so I am considering using a set from FlyCorvair.com that have been powder coated white. These are of corse used parts like the set I had since they have been out of production for some time but a few dents and dings does not affect usability, they are just a matter of cosmetics. The powder coat finish has shown itself to be durable in service and the bright white gloss finish provides a good reflector of heat.
