Brief Description:  Fuel System Design

The fuel is contained within the wings and controlled by a Andair duplex selector valve located on the front of the wing spar between and below the pilots knees. Since the engine is fuel injected a retur line is required for the excess fuel coming out of the boost pump(s). The duplex valve controls the return flow matching it to the supply tank so fuel will stay balanced. The return line is routed from the wing root through an aluminum tube to the top of the outboard most fuel bay to minimize any back pressure from pumping into a full tank. The fuel will pass inboard through one way flapper valves from the outboard bay to the inner bay and from there to a screen coverd inlet. The tanks have a drain valve in the aft inboard corner of the inboard bay and a filler cap in the top of the outboard bay. A vent line extends from the top of the outboard bay through aluminum tubing to the wing tip where it vents downwards through the bottom of the wing. The tanks will be outfitted with Princton capacitive fuel level senders. These are attached at the top of the inboard bay inboard rib from the outside and are angled down to the bottom of the tank. This angled mounting allows the sender to be removed or installed as desired while the wing is not mated to the fuselage. The tank itself will be completely sealed with Jeffco fuel tank sealer on the inner surface to protect against fuel penetration into the wing skin. It should provide a barrier against 100LL avgas as well as any alcohol or other chemicals present in Auto Gas or a future alternate to 100LL.
