Fabricate new hydraulic brake caliper back plate / wheel pant mounting plate x2. Using the kit provided part, with tail dragger fuselage, the plate is at the wrong angle and not parallel with the fuselage horizontal axis. Sonex tech support says that the supplied kit part is drilled for Tri-Gear, so of course it does not fit correctly on a trail dragger fuselage. Thank you Sonex.
Right side: - Remove wheel - Unbolt caliper & plate from axle mount tab - Reinstall wheel - Lift tail so fuselage horizontal axis is level - Rotate back plate to be level - Mark back plate mounting hole location thru axle tab - Remove wheel, caliper, back plate - Drill caliper center hole in new back plate - Install caliper to new back plate using a 3/4" wood dowel thru center holes in both - Rotate caliper so the tab mounting hole is lined up with the correct hole on the caliper - Drill 3 caliper mounting holes in back plate - Clamp old back plate to new back plate & drill nut plate holes in new back plate - Deburr all - Rivet nut plates onto back plate - Reinstall new back plate & caliper to axle, install wheel - Use AN4-14A x2 bolts, 1 regular & 1 thin flat washers (caliper to back plate) - Use AN4-15A x1 bolt with MS21042-4 low profile nut & 3 regular flat washers, one of which is ground off to clear axle, thru axle mounting tab
