Set up timing light on engine to check timing of primary & secondary ignitions. Propeller hub diameter (with tape) = 2.195". C = p(3.14159) * d (2.195) = 6.896 * 25.4 = 175.15 mm / 360 = .486 mm per degree. Primary ignition timing is fixed @ 28 deg BTCD. .486 mm per degree * 28 degrees = 13.6 mm. Mark propeller hub 13.6 mm before TDC.
Run engine, primary ignition is right on the 28 degree mark, but the timing light is not very bright when running the secondary ignition. I will work on a new set up to place the timing light closer to the prop hub for checking the timing, hopefully without having to look over the propeller.
Alternator does not start charging until ~ 1900 RPM. Smooth idle at 1000 RPM, somewhat rough under 1000 RPM Before the next engine start, adjust the throttle controls so the back side of the throttle quadrant lever is just in front of the top arrow label, this should be about 1000 RPM.
