Brief Description: Prepared parts and installed main landing gear str
These hours include 4.2 for me on 8/24, 3.0 on 8/27, and 7.1 on 8/28; They also include 0.6 hours from Carole on 8/28 and 2.7 hours from Joe Sharp on 8/27.
Joe and I prepared the plastic "springs" for the right and left main landing gear strut and measured out where the indents must be made in the strut itself. I used a carbide cutter in the air drill to form the indentations. This was time consuming and tedius but it worked. Careful measurements were made as to position.
Carole helped me mount the strut into position, which took two or three touchups on the indentations in the strut. But it went on fine. There was a recent article in the Zenith newsletter about tightening these bolts and I will follow those instructions which include a test which requires the plane to be finished so will do it then.
Started working on mounting the brakes and wheels. To put the mounting bolts into the brakes as shown on the drawing, the brakes must be completely assembled. It was a good experience to see exactly how they work and are put together.
