Number of Hours:  13.90
Manual Reference:  Matco Instructions
Brief Description:  Mounted main mounts. Prepared to debur fwd fuselag

These hours include 6.9 for me on 8/29 and 3.0 on 8/30.
They also include 2.2 for Carole on 8/29 and 1.8 on 8/30.

After locating and drilling the holes for the mounting of the brakes and wheels on the main mount strut, the brakes were prepared for mounting. I discovered that the plate which holds the pads can be installed two ways and do not know which is right so I stopped to wait until I can call Matco on Monday morning.

Both tires were mounted on the wheels for the main mounts. This involved trimming the fluffy edge of one side of the inside of the tire then forcing half the wheel on it using the drill press on a piece of circular plywood to apply even force. Soapy water assisted this step. The the O ring had to be installed inside the rim. We learned that a little grease on the o ring helped to park it on the rim. Then the two halfs of the wheel are assembled and the gap between the wheels on the inside greased with Aeroshell 6. Finally the O ring is pryed off the rim and it takes position at the gap between the wheels. Applying air thru the valve seals the other side of the tire. Having done it 3 times it has gotten relatively easy now. But the pressure is holding so we will not have to do this for a long time.

Took the top forward skin off to debur and treat it. Added some 1/8" L's to hold the firewall and panel into position while that skin is off since it supports the firewall and the nose wheel. Will leave this skin off until the engine and all instruments are installed.
