Brief Description:  Seat Pans. Nose gear strut.

These hours include 1.2 of mine on 8/3 and 0.6 of Carole's on 8/3.

They additionally include 0.6 of Carole's on 8/4.

I collected the parts for the seats and fitted the brackets which holds the seat back to the seat pan. Each bracket has 8 rivets holding it on the pan. Then, the seat backs are held on by a cotter pin through a small shaft. The hole for the cotter pin had to be drilled. This is pretty delicate work with such a small drill bit in a steel cylinder. I used the drill press for this.

With that done I started on the nose gear strut, attaching the doubler to the bottom of the strut and drilling the holes which secure it to the U shaped nose gear frame. Then started attaching the frame to the strut which goes up to the firewall. This involves more drilling through steel and the parts are not conveniently shaped for using the drill press. I used the electric drill (which turns slower) for the larger holes rather than the pneumatic one.
