Brief Description:  Clico'd baggage compartment. Worked on controls.

Of these hours, 5.0 were by Carole.

Worked on clicoing the baggage compartment back into place after deburring and corrosion treatement. By and large this went ok except for a major problem in installing the gussets which reinforce the cross member at the bottom of the baggage compartment. Having pre-drilled the holes in the gussets and the crossbar it became time to drill into the skin. But the gusset is invisible at this stage. The LHS went on smoothly by ignoring the little pre-drilled holes on the skin side of the gusset. The RHS was a major problem since the gusset did not actually reach the skin. This gap was too far to clico and if that had in possible it would have pulled the skin in from the outside. It was decided to order another gusset and to ignore the predrilled holes when we get it.

Started to pre-assemble the control linkages since the baggage compartment hides them (except from the hole in the bottom of the fuselage.) The idea is to do as much as possible before committing to close quarters in the fuselage.

Photo 1 is the nearly completed (clico'd) baggage compartment. Photo 2 shows the gap between the gusset and the skin on the RHS and photo 3 shows the linkage as it comes out of the baggage compartment.
