Brief Description: Replaced stab right tip rib and started deburring
The photo guide had led me to think that the hinge pins were inside the tip ribs instead of on the outside. The plans shows them on the outside, which makes sense. But, from the photo guide I had drilled a hole for them in the stab starboard tip rib. So I replaced it. This meant replacing the nose skin after deburring, drilling the holes in the new tip rib and then removing the nose skin again to debur the new holes. Very tedious work as must be careful not to put dents in the nose skin on a tight fitting curve.
This time includes 4.3 hours of Carole's time, Carole also made us each time sheets for more detailed record of the actual work hours.
In the steps ahead the stabilizer will be completely disassembled and each hole and edge deburred. Then each mating surface will be sprayed with Zinc Oxide to prevent corrosion at the joint. The trim tab servo will then be attached internally before the skin goes back on. Also, the attachment brackets of the stab must be secured from the inside.
Then the stab will be reassembled and clico'd. After a final check it will be riveted and finished.
