These hours moved things along steadily.
I had decided to make the wing top skin inboard panels as inspection panels since all the wiring and fuel lines are in there. To that end I installed rivnuts replacing the rivet holes from the front spar back to the rear spar. The leading edge skin will remain riveted. This is slow tedious work. The $49 tool from Aircraft Spruce broke after 23 rivnuts. I sent it back for replacement but then ordered an alternative $17 tool. This simple tool works fine but the bolt and washers which are a part of it either bend or break after a couple of uses. But, since these parts are inexpensive expendables available locally (Fastenal), I just replace ever couple of times and keep going.

The fuel lines, wing light wires, fuel gauge wire and pitot tubes were fed through grommets into the aircraft fuselage from the wings and the process of routing them in the fuselage began. Tubes will use the left hand side and wires the right hand side. The crossover is above the baggage compartment where the lines enter from the wings.

The firewall forward kit was opened and the parts laid out for inspection. The engine mount was fitted to the firewall. It fit exactly, which was a great relief. Valuable help was obtained from Jim Rosser and Barrie Strachan in this work, which too a full morning. All the bolts are loosely in place. The mount will be removed later, powder coated, and attached to the engine before remounting. This will not be done until the rest of the plane is essentially finished so as to keep the engine preserved in its box.

The three elevator hinges were aligned by laser. The end plates were rotated a very small amount t
