The skin of the bottom wing was taken off, deburred and where metal meets metal was treated with spray on zinc oxide solution. The ribs and spars were also deburred and treated. The panels were then re-clico'd back to the spars and ribs and riveted in place.
At all time during this construction, the ribs have been supported at the rear in such a way that the bottom skin was exactly level. Using a digital level it was kept flat to within 0.1 degree. After riveting, the skin is level to 0.1 degree from end to end.
The inspection plate was installed while the bottom was still supported. The nuts are riveted on to the bottom of the skin. These nuts and bolts are extremely difficult to screw together and the phillips head is very small. There was no need for them to be so very difficult to achieve locking.
