...Pulled NG off aircraft-VansSB07-11-09& ordered new nose gear...Van's recommends shortening the Nose fork by one inch and installing a newly designed nose gear fork that gives 1" more clearance between the bottom retaining nut and the ground. This greatly improves the chances of NOT having a nose over if a rut or obstruction is encountered. I removed the NG leg, disassembled the wheel from the old style NG fork and left the front of the aircraft supported with Pete's fancy sawhorse and shipped the nosegear in for shortening and drilling.
