...Aligning gear fairings...Elected not to fully level aircraft due to difficulties of that operation so we compensated by measuring the distance of the level above the aft end of the level as it was on the cockpit rail then we measured the distance to the tail tie down and corrected that distance to lower the aft end of the alignment strings when they are drawn tight. [If you care, contact me :>)]. We then aligned the fairing and marked the upper end before securing with the screw hose clamp and we made a mark on each lower end of the fairing as well. We did raise the tail on a saw horse to help level the aircraft before we made our formula. I will test fly the aircraft and then if there is no skidding, then I will add the wheel pants and refly.
