Brief Description:  Install Full Flow Return to Fuel Tank

1142 - 1524

Layout six evenly spaced holes on 1/4" NPT bungs for rivets using corel draw file.

Drill each hole using drill press and #30 drill, 12x.

Debur all holes.

Determine location for return fitting in tank root rib. Pictures provided by Ernst Frietag were of great help. I determined that the optimum location for the return fitting was as pictured. There is no interference withe the aileron torque tube, any other plumbing, and the return is 6 " from the inlet. Four inches was the minimum specified by EFII.

Match drill the root rib using the pre drilled bungs using a #30 drill, cleco as drilled. Great efforts were made to make sure no chips went into the tank. A high flow vacuum was held next to the slow turning bit, a small amount of grease was applied to the flutes of the drill to hold the chips, and the tank was vacuumed after drilling each hole.

The center hole was now located and drilled with a unibit using the same techniques.

The root rib and bung were scuffed using s/b, then all surfaces were thoroughly cleaned with acetone.

Proseal was mixed in its 2.5 ounce container per instructions.

Applied proseal to bung in a thin even coat.

Cleco bung to root rib.

Rivet bung using closed back blind rivets, 6x.

Repeat for other tank.

Proseal applied to outside of rivets and bung.
