After considering the previously made fuel pump bracket, I decided that I was not satisfied with the design. Today, I fabricated a new mount that is more rigid, locates the pump in the tunnel better, and it actually is lighter than the previous iteration. It also will allow a filter change, if necessary, without removing the pump. It was time well spent.
Mark and cut 4 pieces of 063 x 3/4 x 3/4 angle.
Locate and drill pump mount holes using 1/4" drill in 2 Upper angles.
Layout rivet center line on angle and mark for 4 evenly spaced rivets.
Drill rivet pilot holes using #40 drill, 8x.
Mark flange center line on 2 Lower angles and mark for 3 evenly spaced #8 screws.
Drill holes for screws using #19 drill.
Temporarily mount K-1000-08 nut plates on angle.
Drill nut plate mount holes using #40 drill, cleco as drilled, 12x.
Clamp an Upper and Lower angle together, making a Z channel.
Match drill rivet holes in vertical flange using #30 drill, cleco as drilled, 8x.
Remove all clecos.
Machine c-sink nut plate mount holes in angle, 12x.
Debur and smooth all holes and edges.
Cleco upper and lower angles, 2x.
Rivet upper and lower angles using AD470-4-5 rivets and p-squeezer, 8x.
Cleco nut plates to angle assembly, 6x.
Rivet nut plates using AD426 flush rivets and p-squeezer, 12x.
Bolt angle assmblies to fuel pump using supplied AN4 bolts, internal lock washers, and loctite.
Bolt previously fabricated filter mount angle to fuel pump using supplied bolts and lock washers, 2x.
Bolt Adel clamp to angle using AN3 hardware.
Install filter in Adel clamp and tighten. Filter is installed with flow aft to facilitate a more compact unit, simplify running fuel lines, and provide addition clearance from cabin heat valves.
Fabricate pump to filter line using 5052 tube. All flares are double flares made with mastercool flare tool.
Fabricate duplex valve to pump line.
