Brief Description: Empennage Attach

1230 - 1412 Relocate tailcone to lower platforms and check level, forward and aft. Final drill VSattach bracket using 1/4" and #12 drills. Attach previously fabricated shims to HS attach brackets using carpet tape. Locate HS on tailcone and cleco to attach bars using #30 alignment holes. Match drill HS rear spar and attach bars using #12 drill. Install aN3 hardware after each hole was drilled. Fabricate HS positioning jig from 2x4 stock. Locate index mark on 2x4 and aft deck. Remove tailcone aft top skin center cleco. Replace with screw to obtain accurate measurement. Measure from center screw to HS outside corners. Initial measurement was within 3/32" Obtain equal measurements from center hole to outboard corners of 94 1/4". Clamp jig to aft deck. Match drill HS attach brackets to aft deck and doubler using 6" long #12 drill. Install AN3 hardware as each hole was drilled. Verify equal measurement after each hole was drilled. Remove jig and clamps.
