Brief Description:  Program GDU, Install Brake Cylinder

1500 - 1900

Today, I spent most of the time working on the confoguration of the GDU.

I did receive the new master cylinder and fittings; These were installed with Loctite 567.

I began configuring the GDU. I found that the stick trim switches were backwards so I disassembled the DB9 connectors and repinned the two wires. Trim checks fine with the stick switches. After talkin to Christer, I need to do more configuring witht the GDU A/P screens so that the servos actually move in the correct direction. I also found that I need to update the firmware for the the avionics suite. I will need to get an SD card tomorrow to accomplish this.

I called Steinair because it turns out that the VPX actually uses GP1 and GP2. These were going to be used as extra discrete inputs, so they were wired to the Battery fault discretes. When I attempted to configure the GP inputs, GP1 and GP2 were greyed out an inaccessible due to the VPX using them. The battery fault is not critical, so I will used LEDS to indicate the fault.

I also found that Discrete 1 and Discrete 2 were already in use by the IBBS and TOGA function. I had planned on using Discrete 2 for the Left Door warning. This would have created two active lows for one discrete input, so I removed the Left Door warning input. Instead, tomoorw I will connect ALL four door reed switches in series and use Discrete 3 for the input. This way, if ANY of the four switches are open, I will get a Door Caution message and Master Caution light.

GP 5 was connected to the crosstie active low and it functions normally.

I then started working with the Fuel Quantity configuration. According to Todd at GRT, the capacitive sensors need a 12 volt input and return a 0-5 volt signal which is linear from full to empty. I connected 12 volts to the sensor and found that dry, it outputs 0.11 volts. To test the wiring, I connected this signal to the white signal wire from the GEA24 and observed 0.11 volts on the fuel quantity configuration page. I will need to perform TWO calibrations
