Continue wiring.

First thing accomplished today was to route the GMU22 harness from the panel to the unit. This required unpinning the CPC connector. Using the appropriate tool, the pins were removed and labeled. This assisted in repinning as there were two wh/bl, two white, and two green wires. Labeling them as they were removed insured proper position. Once the connector was removed, the harness was routed through bushings and conduit to reach the GMU22. The harness was secured to the vertical bulkhead with tie wraps.

At this point, there was in excess of 6 feet of wire. I had two options; coil it and secure it or shorten it. As I have the correct crimper and extra pins, I shortened the harness. I left a sufficient amount of extra in the run as a service loop.

The harness was shortened using standard techniques. The connector was then repinned and fit verified.

Next, I decided to route the wiring for the headsets and stick grip buttons. For now, I will have roll and pitch trim, PTT, and A/P disconnect on the grip. There are other buttons available for later installations...like smoke. SMOKE ON!

Routing these wires turned out to be a bit of a project. The main trunk of the wiring had these wires breaking out directly below the panel, and vertically. I wanted to run the wires in a conduit in the tunnel, so I needed to remove some of the lacing and alter the wiring harness to route this rather large bundle in the correct direction. The harness was tiewrapped as it was modified to preserve neatness.

I then used a wire fish to pull the entire bundle through the conduit. I had to relabel the wires as the route was a bit longer than expected and the original labels ended up inside the conduit.

I will need to run 7 more small wires through this conduit for the flaps (5), and the USB power (2).
