Brief Description:  Install Instrument Panel

1130 - 1918

Continue with transponder rack. Using 063 x 1.5 x 1.5 angle, I fabricated two support brackets for the transponder. Due to the length of the wiring from the panel, I decided to adjust the transponder aft and closer to the panel. This necessitated using the angles to partially cantilever the transponder.

The ER fuel tank was removed so that we could remove the HID landing light ballast and adjustment ring. These parts are not required for the installation of the LED lights.

The ER tank was then installed permanently and all fittings tightened.

Wiring was pulled through conduits in the right wing for lighting. We pulled a 20/3/S for the Aeroleds, a 20/2/S for the Recog light, and 2 - 14 AWG wires for the landing light. Although 14 AWG was not required, using it gives the most flexibility for the landing light, current wise.

We trial fit the GSA28 servo...which did not fit the original bracket. That bracket was for the original Tru Trak servo and did not have clearance around the output shaft. This necessitated removal and replacement of the mounting bracket. Normally, this would not have been an issue but the cotter pin broke before it could be removed. It took over an hour to remove the pieces. Once the pin was removed, the bracket was replaced with the Garmin bracket, which also needed to be slightly relieved.

All remaining blue plastic was removed, aluminum cleaned with acetone.
