Brief Description:  Install Garmin GSU 25

1600 - 1830

Today I determined the final location for the GSU 25. This took some time as it was a problem of how to mount it while keeping the three ports and their respective fittings clear of the D sub connectors. I finally settled on a tubes aft/connectors starboard orientation. This allows the pitot port to contain a Tee, the AOA will connect using a 90, and the static will use a 90. There will be no stress or sharp bends to the tubing.

As the GSU 25 will be bolted to the subpanel, I opted to fabricate a small doubler to stiffen the sub panel and carry the nut plates. Standard practices were used to fabricate the doubler.

The doubler was drilled with pilot holes first. The aircraft was then leveled and the doubler was used to match drill the sub panel. Although not required, the GSU 25 was positioned within 0.4 degrees of level in roll. The connector are within the specified 1 degree of the longitudinal axis. The pitch is that of the sub panel, or approximately 6 degrees nose down. This is well within the specified range per Garmins installtion manual.
