Brief Description:  Fit Cabin Top

1436 - 1548 1748 - 1842

Continue to sand cabin top to facilitate fitting in fuselage. As previously stated, vertical cabin top channels have been sanded to .115" to get the top to fit in the fuselage. Next step will be to trim and sand the cabin top where it sits on the fuselage deck. Looking at the aft flanges, the cabin to will need to be sanded down 3/16" which will effectively eliminate the lip that the plans call for (1/16"). The corners will also nee to be relieved to allow cabin top[ to fit over fuselage structure. The front cabin top vertical will need to be scarfed to fit against the fuselage skin.

Final fit of the HS tips determined inadequate cleaqrance between the counter balance and tip when elevator was approximately half deflected. Tip was removed and fiberglass was sanded to allow adequate clearance. Enought material was removed that 2 additional glass plys were laid up on the interior of the tip.
