Brief Description:  Trim Cabin Cover

1242 - 1318 1442 - 1700

Remove HS tips and trim excess fiberglass using bench sander and permagrit tools.

Apply thin layer of finishing resin to fill cloth weave.

Initial fit of cabin cover. I have to say that I am definitely NOT impressed with the fiberglass work on the cabin cover. That being said, the cover was trimmed to the scribe lines where it mates with the mide fuselage deck. Imagine my surprise when it wasn't even close to fitting. Going back to the plans, it says to trim the cover to within 1/16" of the web. NOT. The opening in the fuselage is 37 1/16", and trimmed to Vans specs, the cabin cover was 37 1/4". So begins the task of removing the surface of the door channels to allow the cabin cover to fit in the available opening. I have removed the entire lip and it is just starting to be in the ballpark. As can be seen in the pictures, near the corners, there was a huge blob of fiberglass...not fun trying to remove!

Will try to fit cover again tomorrow...
